The Company

Our Client provides quality construction, repair and maintenance services to industrial clients across North America.

The Position

Our Client requires a Manager, Business Development to be responsible for marketing and acquiring new business. Based out of Saint John, New Brunswick, the successful candidate will develop and maintain relationships within key markets in the Maritime Provinces.

Key responsibilities and activities include:
• Compiles lists of prospective customers for use as sales/marketing leads based upon information from personal contacts with previous customers, business directories, trade shows, various sales lead reports, and other sources.
• Travels throughout assigned territory to solicit inquiries and orders from regular and prospective customers and follow-up on current projects.
• Develops and maintains target accounts which have the potential to provide for large numbers of inquiries and profitable sales revenues.
• Make presentations to customers / prospective customers on the company’s varied products, services and overall capabilities.
• Follows several target industries to watch for changes, which could result in increases or decreases in inquiries and revenues.
• Solicits management representatives such as engineers, architects or other professional and technical personnel at commercial, industrial and other establishments; markets desirability and practicability of products or services offered by the Company.
• Assists Division Manager with plans, specifications, and other customer documents to develop and prepare budget cost estimates.
• Establishes or proposes changes in products and services offered based on industry need and those which would result in cost reduction or schedule improvements.
• Assists in providing advice to clients relating to the Company’s products and services.
• Assists Division Manager by providing budgets and schedules to customers.
• Prepares call reports and business communications.
• Performs other responsibilities, as directed.

The Candidate

The successful candidate should possess the following qualifications, experience and personal competencies:
• A minimum five years sales, marketing, or business development experience; previous experience in the construction and / or tank industry preferred.
• Bachelors degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering or related area, or equivalent job-related experience / knowledge.
• Previous experience working in Eastern Canada.
• Advanced interpersonal, oral and written communications skills, including the ability to negotiate with clients, work with customers, and speak publicly in front of groups.
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical information, financial reports and legal documents; fundamental mathematical skills, including use of geometry, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions in practical situations.
• Strong computer skills, including MS Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook, internet search capabilities, and exposure to databases
• Strong organizational skills, including the ability to work independently with little direction.
• Frequent travel outside of the office, including jobsite visits in industrial and petrochemical plants, trade shows, and client visits.
• This position has direct financial accountability for the receipt of sufficient quality inquiries to support the respective Region’s business plans and revenues.
